Warm greetings from sunny-getting-hot Yogyakarta,
Thanks for ur comment on my page.
Sure, i'll keep alive my life here. I have my own planning and mapping to create more challenging work environment here :) to do something, a little thing for our beloved forests :) let's keep in touch and sharing any "real" forest conservation-related informations.
How's life going in West Papua, K?
I started work at BPKH4 Samarinda on 14 May and still adapting the work environment here.
Hopefully i can survive and do something more for our beloved forests, since now i am a gov. officer of MoF.
But, the activities during this first weeks are very boring and monotone. Can't wait to go outside, in the real field. To see n feel the realities.
Hey Taufik,
how are things in Papua? I am now developing some model to simulate deforestation in PNG. Maybe I can send you a conceptual model (no worries, no math !;O) in which I make assumptions about the drivers of deforestation? Would you be willing to have a look at it?

Hi Taufik,
So do I, just 2 years older that you, not so much different hah:-). I did an internship in East Borneo and wrote my thesis on diversity of coastal area in Bali. So you can guess my concentration at our beloved faculty in Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta. were you at Forest concervation dept.?
So how is your work in West Papua..what are you doing there? I heard there will be conversion of 100 ha forest for Oil Palm plantation..is it right? Tell us in this platform! We are hungry such info directly from the ground..:-).
and..you will get the ticket to study here in Goettingen by next year..I am sure you can make it. but why Goettingen?
Hey Taufik, glad to visit ur profile. Great having some one from he conservation field. I see you work in papua, Indonesia where conservation is really advanced. i also work with a conservation organization but this time around in west Africa specifically Cameroon. Hope we get to chat and exchange ideas a great deal on conservation issues.

Yes, its not easy when idealism meet reality (economic). i can see it clearer now :))
Lets do our best and hope the spreading of viruses going well (based on ur term).
alhamdulillah kabarku very well.
wahhhh, Papua yeuh! Salah satu surga buat para environmentalist! Dinas dr Dephut ya? enjoy aja deh disana :)
Kabar idealisme mahasiswa kehutanan?? wah, aku belum nemuin parameternya. tapi yang jelas, based on milis conversations sih, kayaknya (kayaknya) nih ya, jiwa conservationist masih ada di tmn2ku yang udah pada kerja di berbagai sektor. Bahkan mereka pengen jadi the "Conservationist Viruses" buat rekan2 kita yang bekerja di luar sektor kehutanan n gak kenal pendidikan kehutanan (meureun, ceunah mah). Kan gak semua conservationist beruntung bisa bekerja di sektornya.... so, mereka punya prinsip untuk tetap bisa jadi virus konservasi bagi yang lainnya n mudah2an ideologis ini gak terhapus dengan tuntutan ekonomi... let's see..
Mudah2an aja deh....
kalo ade2 mahasiswa, jangan ditanya deh, soale aku dah gak jadi mahasiswa lagi. tapi so far, mereka masih bahkan keep active on conservationist activities (not only theory they got).
hello everybody, young environmentalists, firstly i feel good to know that existance, as im now "seems" in the middle of nowhere managing some forest conservation areas in West Papua Indonesia, and again, its nice to be part of you here. Thanks for the invitation Mika. Lets keep in touch.
