thanks for adding the event. I would love to revisit Bali and Indonesia in general. Still I have not seen so much of your beautiful country. I guess also the conference will provide a lot of opportunities for me to present my research and to learn from others. But I cannot yet tell you about my participation. I would need funding for it and I cannot tell if I have a summerschool (mandatory!) during July. But I have the conference rather in mind than my summerschool ;o)
I am still working on REDD, hoping to make a contribution to halting deforestation - also in Indonesia. There is interesting work going on in Indonesia at the moment - the government is among the first to present a national REDD strategy. So there is hope...although corruption, missmanagement and economic pressure from palm oil and timber production will nevertheless make it difficult to be sucessful. I will try my best to contribute a little part to making REDD sucessful. By the way, you should get in contact with Heiner von Lüpke (e.g. via facebook) - he is German, working in Indonesia on REDD. You might ask him about ongoing projects and REDD policy in Indonesia.
Best and wish you a nice day.
Mika
hope you are doing well. Thanks for the blog post. I have now added an events section on the webpage, so you can also advertise the conference there.
best
Mika

It`s nice to hear you from Borneo. Yeah, for sure it will be monotonous and boring for you,,believe me, dont expect much on your 1st year, just keep active and live your life there ;)
My job here is getting more challenging and i hope i could do more to help protecting the conservation forests here! you know Papua is a developing area..so u can imagine when they think conservation just a barrier of their developing process, (what a shame some ppl still think that way!) so the challenge is there and getting bigger here. Viva green Indonesia!

congrats to the new job! ....I am most interested in seeing the conservation photography and "real-life" information on forest conservation on Kalimantan.
Best regards from my temporary home in Austria.
Mika

Hope you will have a totally wonderful day!
I'm in Nairobi right now, in the UNEP Tunza Global Youth Retreat together with Caitlin, Zainab and Handy. The other TYAC members left already since yesterday was the last day of our meeting. We had a good time and learned a lot while giving inputs to the next Tunza strategy.
Hope to meet you again some time!
Take care and enjoy your day!
Sara
