My Organisation / Group
Tarumitra, meaning "Friends of Trees" in Hindi and Sanskrit, is an NGO, a student movement to protect and promote a healthy environment on Earth. Started by students in Patna, India in 1988, the movement has spread into hundreds of high schools and colleges all over India. It has over 2,00,000 members in over 1000 high schools and colleges. Tarumitra has also had several full time volunteers from India and abroad.
Tarumitra has been a constant source of inspiration for small school children and youth to become green citizens.
It has been instrumental as a source of transformation because of its concept of spreading ecospirituality.
I grew up in Dhanbad, one of the most ecologically degraded places in the country and consequently became very sensitive to these issues from the very beginning and inculcated the urge to work for the betterment of the environment. I am member of Tarumitra,an NGO working with school and college students to spread awareness about environmental issues. I participated in various youth environmental conferences and have visited schools to create awareness among the children and have been active part of tree plantation drives during the rainy season at the school and college level. My hobby is photography and especially interested in issues related to Biodiversity, Air-Water Pollution, and climate Change. He is planning to do a PhD in ecology
